Star Wars’ Carrie Fisher appears in an IBM commercial for the company’s Watson computer.
She runs a support group for a bunch of science fiction robots in the ad and invites Watson to help them work “with humans.”
Fisher is recurring in her role as Leia Organa in the new Star Wars movies. The next movie in the series, Episode VIII, is planned for a release on Dec. 15, 2017.
Watson is an IBM computer originally designed to play the game of Jeopardy!, being able “to analyze natural language, identify sources, find and generate hypotheses, find and score evidence, and merge and rank hypotheses,” according to IBM. It can communicate using spoken language. It’s been used, among other things, to suggest possible treatments for hospital patients.
