Caroline Kennedy selling property: Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving child of former President John F. Kennedy, is selling off around 90 acres in Martha’s Vineyard, a Massachusetts resort on the coast.
Two pieces of property in Aquinnah are being sold, including one worth $20 million and another worth $25 million, reported Bloomberg News. One lot is around 53.5 acres and the other is about 39.5 acres.
“An exclusive waterfront property with incredible views of Squibnocket Pond, with further views over towering sand dunes to the Atlantic Ocean,” reads a listing for 6 Red Gate Farm, according to the news agency. “Plenty of privacy with varied topography and easy pond access. Yours to create a marvelous estate.”
Red Gate Farm is owned by Kennedy and husband Edwin Schlossberg. Kennedy’s mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, bought the property in 1978 for more than $1 million, reported the Vineyard Gazette.
The paper reported that the property, which has remained mostly undeveloped, is home to around a dozen protected species located in freshwater ponds and its dunes. “The owner’s stewardship of the land is part of the reason the land is such valuable habitat,” said the Martha’s Vineyard Commission in 2006.
According to WCVB television, the land borders around 60 acres of protected waterfront.
