Caroline Kennedy and other jurors acquitted a Harlem man accused of dealing crack cocaine, it was reported.
The man allegedly sold four small bags of crack to an undercover officer near Harlem River Park, reported the New York Post.
Nelson Chatman, 31, received a not guilty verdict after more than an hour of deliberations. “Yes,” said Kennedy when she was asked about the verdict, according to the paper.
Kennedy, the daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, was tapped to be the next U.S. ambassador to Japan. Kennedy has lived in New York City’s upper East Side for several decades.
During the jury selection process, she didn’t mention whether any member of her family had been a victim of a crime.
When asked if she or a family member had close ties to law enforcement, Kennedy said her brother once worked as an assistant district attorney. The late John F. Kennedy Jr. had worked in the Manhattan DA’s office.
In response to another question, she said she knew “a few people” with a drug problem.
