Carly Rae Jepsen’s first pitch has been described by some media reports on Monday as the “worst ceremonial first pitch” thrown in recent memory.
Jepsen, the singer of “Call Me, Maybe,” delivered the ceremonial pitch during a Tampa Bay Rays and Houston Astros game in Tampa. She winds up to pitch but the ball slips out of her hand and hits the ground shortly after.
Following he pitch, she laughed and smiled, and covered up her face.
According to MSN, the announcers said she “held onto it a little too long.”
“What do Mariah Carey, Carl Lewis, John Wall, Howard Stern producer Gary ‘Baba Booey’ Dell'Abate and Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory have in common with Carly Rae Jepsen?” wrote the New York Daily News. “As of Sunday they are all pretty much tied for worst ceremonial first pitch of all time.”
The pitch thrown by Dell'Abate, also known as “Baba Booey,” could arguably be the worst, as it hit the umpire.
