Carlie Trent, the girl who went missing for more than a week, will now go back to class at Hawkins Elementary School on Monday, where she feels the most comfortable, according to Local8Now.
“My favorite subject is science,” Trent told the station.
Her uncle, Gary Simpson, allegedly abducted her from the school almost two weeks ago. Simpson was arrested and is being held on $1 million bond. WBIR-TV reported that Simpson’s preliminary hearing was set for May 23. A judge also assigned to him a public defender on Monday.
If Simpson is convicted of especially aggravated kidnapping, he could serve between 15 and 25 years behind bars.
James said he'll never forget how Simpson betrayed his trust.
“I‘ll just have to live with that,” added James. “I’ll just have to deal with it and just try to keep her happy, and if she’s happy, then I’m happy,” he continued.
