Police are used to holding different types of perpetrators in their patrol cars, but a department in Shelby Township, Michigan, admits that even they weren’t prepared for a recent encounter.

They ended up detaining a large, 170-pound pig which had gotten out of its pen and was wandering around the local area Thursday evening.

A woman even called 911 to report the animal after it briefly chased her before stopping to explore a lawn decoration.

Police were able to capture it with no problems using a tool to wrangle dogs then took it back to their station where they found a surprise. The pig had gone to the bathroom in the backseat of the car.

Officers jokingly wrote on Facebook that the big mess was the reason behind the wide smile it appeared to have in a photo that has since gone viral.

Eventually, the owner came by to pick up his animal but cleaned the car thoroughly before they left.
