Captain America 3 still doesn’t have an official title, although one will be announced soon.
Co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo recently revealed that they’ve been working with Marvel president Kevin Feige on the title for about a decade, and that they will reveal the title soon publicly.
Now Movie Pilot has named five of the most likely titles based on Captain America’s comic book history.
They are:
Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty--the comic book storyline involves Nick Fury, and Sharon Carter, who was introduced in Captain America 2.
Captain America: The Red Menace--the storyline leads into the death of Steve Rogers, which has been increasingly speculated about.
Captain America: The Secret Empire--the storyline includes the empire being a subsidiary of Hydra. “My belief is that, by the way Baron von Strucker talks about HYDRA as a good organization in the Winter Soldier’s mid-credits scene, and almost suggests that they are not completely part of HYDRA may mean that he is actually leading up the Secret Empire. The Secret Empire is a recurring villainous organization not only in the Captain America stories, but also in the story of the Defenders, who will be a Netflix show also made by Marvel Studios,” notes Movie Pilot.
Captain America: Civil War--this storyline, which sees a huge battle, has also been speculated to be the plot of Avengers 3.
Captain America: The Fallen Son--this storyline takes place around Steve Rogers’ death and features the Winter Soldier’s rise to become the next captain.
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed that filming will start on Captain America 3 in April 2015 in Atlanta.
The first Captain America film was shot in the United Kingdom, New York, and Los Angeles while the second was mostly filmed in Ohio and LA.
Co-director Anthony Russo said that there will be additional locations for Captain America 3.
“It’s not an all-Atlanta shoot, it’s a lot of stage work in Atlanta. There’s other locations that are also involved that I don’t think we can get into,” he told Collider.
Captain America 3 is set to hit theaters on May 16, 2016.
