Cameron Diaz shared some wisdom last night on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
She said marriage helped her to learn more about herself, but that was also the challenge.
Someone asked her, she said, what was the best part of being married?
“I just learned so much about myself,” she said. “I didn’t know these things. I would have never known them if didn’t meet my husband.”
Then the person asked what’s the worst thing about being married.
“Well, I learned all these things about myself that I wish I’ve never learned about myself,” she said. “And I wouldn’t have known them if I didn’t get married.”
In the end, though, she said she was grateful for it. “I couldn’t do it without my husband,” she said.
Diaz said people put too much emphasis on young looks and should look for other valuable things about themselves.
“I feel as we get older we have so much more to offer,” she said.
Fielding some Facebook questions, Diaz shared what she calls her husband when she’s happy: “My Ba.”
“You know when things start like ‘baby,’ then it goes to ‘bae,” and then it all the way goes down to ’ba'?” she said, prompting laughs from the audience.
“Soon, I’m just going to go like ‘ugh’ and he’s going to know that I’m talking to him.”
Diaz was on the show to introduce her new book, called “The Longevity Book: The Science of Aging, the Biology of Strength, and the Privilege of Time,” she co-authored with Sandra Bark.
In a pre-show Facebook interview, Diaz talked, among other things, about how she feels about aging.
“I love the actual experience of getting older,” said the actress, who’s going to turn 44 in less than four months.
