Burlesque performer killed: A well-known burlesque performer in San Francisco was killed during a party bus crash in the Bay Area over the weekend, it was reported.

Sarah Klein, who was internationally known as a performer and journalist, was killed when a bus hit a car and went out of control on Highway 101 in Burlingame, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Officials did not identify the lone casualty in the crash, but Hubba Hubba Revue Executive Producer Jim Sweeney said Klein was killed.

Ten other people were injured in the incident.

“She was probably one of the greatest comedic burlesque performers I’ve ever seen, but she could also transition into classic burlesque (and) become this other glamorous person just by doing it,” he told the paper. “She was by far one of the most respected and beloved people in our community.”

Her husband, who was driving the car, was hospitalized and is said to be in critical condition, according to the paper.

The Associated Press reported that the Honda coupe driven by her husband,  43-year-old Raul Padilla, appeared to slam into the center divider on the highway before it stopped. The front end of the party bus, which had 18 people inside, hit the Honda, said California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel.

Officials are trying to determine if Padilla was drinking.

“If it is determined he was under the influence, he could face felony DUI charges and manslaughter charges,” Montiel said.
