NEW YORK—Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra impressed broadcaster James Chladek, who saw their performance at Carnegie Hall on Saturday night.

Founder of the Chladek Broadcast Group, Mr. Chladek was particularly struck by the musical arrangements.

“For an orchestra this big, the music was designed for every instrument to participate,” he said noting in particular the piece called “Creation.”

“To bring 100 something people to do it is impressive,” he said.

Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra is part of Shen Yun Performing Arts, a New York-based classical Chinese dance and music company that tours the world. The orchestra that performed at Carnegie Hall brings together members of the company’s four full orchestras.

What’s unique about Shen Yun’s orchestra, is that it combines both Chinese and Western instruments.

“The orchestra melds the spirit, beauty, and distinctiveness of Chinese music with the precision, power, and grandeur of the Western symphony orchestra,” says Shen Yun’s website.

After the experience, Mr. Chladek said he was going to spread the word.

“I would tell people to come and enjoy an evening at Carnegie Hall,” he said.
