OTTAWA--BRIGIL wants to sell Ottawa a permanent vacation.
That’s the goal behind the award-winning homebuilder’s next phase of its waterfront development at Domaine du Vieux-Port, located in Outaouais, Gatineau, along the picturesque Gatineau River.
With a 10-minute commute off rush hour from downtown Ottawa, owners can be home, in shorts, and out their door to the private dock for a boat ride 20 minutes after they get off work.
Or they can stroll over to the luxurious health spa for a massage to ease the tension from a hard day at the office. Instead of cooking, they might go over to the jazzy bistro with some friends or neighbours and finish the night with a moonlight Nordic bath therapy session to lull off to a good night’s sleep.
And while the city can offer some of those same amenities, Domaine du Vieux-Port enhances this experience with the sights and sounds of the Gatineau River flowing by in an area that has preserved over 70 percent of its natural surface to give it that cottage-country feel.
The single-entrance community boasts trails for joggers and a rooftop gym for those early-morning workouts.
It’s meant to sound just a little too luxurious, as BRIGIL offers a lifestyle as much as the luxurious condos.
President Gilles Desjardins wants to offer “a dream life in an oasis on the outskirts of the city”—the idea behind the recently unveiled phase two of the development plans for Domaine du Vieux-Port.
For Desjardins and his team at BRIGIL, the natural setting is key to the project. People would prefer to live in the beauty of nature, and years ago Desjardins realized that as a top residential builder in Gatineau his company had a certain responsibility to both the community and the natural environment.
That understanding has translated into a company that strives to integrate residential projects in the existing physical environment rather than scrubbing the area of existing vegetation.
As a result, BRIGIL can boast that it exceeds municipal and provincial environmental standards on all of their projects.
BRIGIL will be investing nearly $100 million to develop its riverside property over the next 10 years with a dozen new luxury condo towers.
Desjardins said the company will “keep the prices competitive” to get the project underway. Condo prices start at $197,800 for a bachelor and go up to $849,800 for a penthouse suite. The first condos are planned for spring 2016.
BRIGIL’s high standards for the environment also apply to the construction of its homes.
The company has been recognized with both the APCHQ’s (L’Association provinciale des constructeurs d’habitations du Québec, or the Provincial Association of Homebuilders of Quebec) top-level Diamond Certification and the prestigious Best Builder/Contractor Award, according to BRIGIL’s website, an achievement few builders can showcase.
BRIGIL’s Presentation Centre is now open at 1400 St. Joseph Boulevard, Gatineau.
