Yesterday, the Dallas Mavericks emerged in the hunt for Rajon Rondo, and today they had reportedly become the frontrunners.
Now, the Celtics have officially agreed in principle to send Rajon Rondo to the Mavericks in exchange in exchange for Brandan Wright, Jameer Nelson, Jae Crowder and two draft picks, as confirmed in a report by ESPN’s Marc Stein.
Boston’s frontcourt will become even more crowded with the trade, while rookie Marcus Smart is expected to be the Celtic’s new starting point guard.
The Mavericks will pair Rajon Rondo and Monta Ellis in a dynamic backcourt.
Rondo was drafted by the Celtics in 2006 and was currently in his ninth season with the Celtics.
His career averages with the Celtics are 11.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
