After teenager Abigail Hall died, her parents were stunned when her boyfriend Josh Thompson asked them a question.
Thompson, 22, says he was in love with Hall.
In fact, the tennis coach says he planned to propose to her after she finished her first year of college.
So Thompson purchased a diamond ring for his deceased girlfriend, and “proposed” to her with her parent’s blessing, Thompson wrote on Facebook.
“Abigail Hall and I are now engaged. She is my life,” he wrote on Facebook.
“Words cannot express the love that I have for her, she was the reason I would wake up in the morning.”
He added: “Thank you to everyone for the support you have given Abbie’s family and myself. Life will never be the same again, we need to continue to support each other.”
Abigail was studying at Sheffield Hallam University and was found at her apartment by friends, with police saying there are no suspicious circumstances behind the death, reported the Mirror.
Devastated friends are mourning her loss but also praising Josh’s gesture.
“I’m completely lost for words, this is an example of love. So beautiful,” said one.
“She would have loved that ring and it looks so beautiful on her delicate finger. Thinking of you and Abbie’s family in this hard time. Stay strong.”
