Bowler shoots himself: A Florida man accidentally shot himself as he was attempting to bowl in the town of Jupiter, according to reports.

Witnesses told ABC News affiliate WPBF-TV that bowlers thought they heard a firecracker when the gun went off. They said the man was carrying a gun in his shorts.

“The guy just stepped up to bowl,” eyewitness Jim Miller said. “I think he hit his leg on his back swing.”

Mike Martin, another witness, said that “the ball hit him in the leg, which triggered the revolver.”

The man, who was not identified, was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Jupiter police spokesman officer Adam Brown told the Palm Beach Post.

Officers say they are not sure what caused the gun to fire.

There were no other injuries reported in the incident.

The bowler will not face any charges.
