Now many studies show that many children who were near the finish line maybe experiencing the effects of Post-Traumating Stress Disorder (PTSD).
11 percent of the children who attended the marathon last year had nightmares, anxiety and flashbacks of the event. Acording to the study that 11 percent has 6 times higher risk to have PTSD than kids who were not at the bombing site which took lives of three people and injured two hundreds and fifty others.
Second finding of the study regarding the tv consumption showed that local children watched 1,5 hours of television coverage of the marathon bombing on the day of attack. Around 21 percent watched double of that amount. Those who sent in front of the tv longer had higher chance to PTSD.
Similar study was done with children who experienced the 9/11 terrorist attack in New York.
