Republican John Boozman won the race for a US Arkansas Senate seat that finished this evening between Boozman, a five-term House Representative for Arkansas’s third district, and two-term Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln, Arkansas US senior democratic Senator, and chairman of the US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. The race marks a lost Senate seat, lessening the margin of the predicted Democratic senate majority.

Boozman, favored to win the race, has been leading in the poles since February. The latest Rassmussen telephone survey conducted on Oct. 28 found that Boozman held the support of 55 percent of the voters, while Lincoln held 33 percent.

Some believe that Lincoln’s support of Obama’s health care plan contributed to a decline in her popularity in Arkansas, where 70 percent of Arkansas voters support a repeal of the Affordable Care Act. 28 percent oppose a repeal according to Rassmussen Reports, an electronic public opinion polling information company.

Boozman’s office asserts that he has consistently voted for tax cuts and smaller government and that he opposes Cap and Trade, Card Check and the Recovery Act.
