Although a premiere date hasn’t yet been announced for Blue Bloods season 5, some new information about the next season is coming out.

Season 4 wraps up on May 9 with the season finale.

One of the insights into season 5 comes from executive producer Kevin Wade.

He told TVGuide that the burgeoning flirtation between Jamie and Eddie, or their possible romance, will be explored more in the upcoming season.

In addition, new stars Len Cariou (Reagan family patriarch Henry) and Marisa Ramirez (Danny’s police partner) and Vanessa Ray (Jamie’s police partner) are set to join the case. While the show will welcome new cast members, at least one death is expected in the season 4 finale.

As the show premieres the season in the fall, repeats will begin airing on WGN America and ION.

Tom Selleck (Frank Reagan) told Zap2It that he appreiates the fact that some of the ratings for recent episodes have matched those of its 2010 premiere.

“I don’t want to jinx it,” Selleck said. “But we keep having these [ratings] escalations, and if we go off the air for a while, the audience seems to make an appointment to find out when we’re back on.

“I think it’s fair to say that we have changed viewing habits on Friday nights,” Selleck reflects, “and I’m very proud of that, as much as I am of the quality of the show in terms of the writing and the acting. The consistency is there. You can watch any episode we’ve done this year and you’re going to want to see another one, so I just hope people sample it.”
