Blind and Deaf Dog Sniffs Out Gas Leak in Wisconsin

Job is a dog both blind and deaf, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a local hero after sniffing out a hidden gas leak.

On Saturday morning, Job’s owner Jim Densmore of New Berlin, Wisconsin, took him for a walk. At the side of a street Job suddenly turned anxious and started to spin in circles.

Densmore knew Job has a very keen sense of smell, so he made a pause and indeed smelled something in the air—natural gas.

The utility provider, We Energies, was called and when their fitter John Albrecht reached the place, his gas detection meter indeed indicated a presence of natural gas right where Job was standing, according to a We Energies blog post.

“He’s an amazing little guy,” said Densmore. “He always surprises me. He can tell if a visitor walks into the house because they smell different.”

The company found and fixed a small underground gas leak.

Job was adopted from the Wisconsin Humane Society and was a star attraction at its 2015 fundraising gala, according to We Energies.
