New series Black Box is premiering on ABC on April 24 with episode 1 beginning at 10 p.m.

The hour-long series is slated to run for 13-episodes in the first season.

The series centers around Catherine Black, a world-famous neurologist at the state-of-the-art medical institution known as “The Cube.”

“Catherine is brilliant, beautiful, and at the top of her game, though she’s hiding a secret of her own: she’s bipolar,” according to an ABC description.

“Each week, the doctors on staff attempt to unravel the mysteries of the brain and are constantly challenged by cases never-before-seen on television. The medical stories are moving, bizarre and a visual feast. The personal stories are riveting. The patients have rare, highly visual, often hallucinogenic and startling conditions, which we'll see through their eyes as Catherine diagnoses and treats them.”

Episode 1 is titled “Kiss the Sky” and includes Black revealing to her therapist Dr. Hartramph that she’s feeling great and everything is going better than ever at her job.

But her secret is becoming harder to control, although it gives her added insight into her patients.

“Catherine is introduced to a mysterious new man named Dr. Ian Bickman. She’s met her match when this boisterous new colleague joins the staff at The Cube,” according to the episode description. “At home, Catherine’s boyfriend is pressuring her to marry him, but what would he do if he knew that there’s another side to her that’s not easily controlled?”
