Billy Crystal pilot: Crystal, an actor and comedian, will star in “The Comedians,” the television network announced.
“In The Comedians, Crystal plays a superstar veteran comedian who is reluctantly paired with a younger, edgier comedian for a late-night comedy sketch show,“ the network announced on Facebook. ” It is based on a Swedish format of the same name from Stockholm-based Efti AB, whose Carl Molinder and John Nordling also executive produce.”
Ben Wexler (Arrested Development), Matt Nix (Burn Notice), and Larry Charles (Seinfeld) are the writes and executive producers of the new show.
John Landgraf, president and general manager of FX Networks, said that “it is truly an honor to be in business with Billy Crystal and Larry Charles, two of the all-time greats in comedy.”
The new show will be a half-hour, single-camera comedy. Production is slated to start this summer.
