Penny agreed to marry Leonard in the penultimate episode of The Big Bang Theory season 7.
The episode saw Penny become disheartened with her career as an actress after getting into a fight with a director on the movie she was working on, causing her to get fired.
She then begins to reflect on what’s important to her, telling Leonard: “Getting fired from that movie was the best thing that could have happened to me--I finally realized I don’t need to be famous or have some big career to be happy.”
The off-kilter proposal appeared to happen after Leonard asked Penny what she needed and she told him that she needed him. “I guess I’m in,” he says.
Turns out Leonard had been keeping an engagement ring in his wallet for several years, and pulled it out.
Penny then agreed to marry him. “Oh my God, yes!” she said, smiling.
Meanwhile, some spoilers have been coming out about the finale episode, set for May 15.
It will include Sheldon at a crossroads after Caltech refuses to let him change his field of study.
Leonard and Perry also discuss living without Sheldon, causing him further distress.
Sheldon’s got some support, but it doesn’t turn out well. ”Amy is trying to comfort him, and she’s making things worse at the same time,” executive producer Steve Molaro told TVLine.
Meanwhile, Raj and Emily continue to heat up, and Howard and Bernadette try to find a caregiver for Mrs. Wolowitz.
And Molaro said that the season ends on a cliffhanger, adding: “Somebody goes on a departure.” That could be Sheldon--the official description says that he “considers a major move” as he faces his uncertain future.
