Bermuda residents Sunday started to clean up damage from Hurricane Karl and hurried to buy supplies in preparation for the arrival of Hurricane Igor late Sunday.

Igor was 190 miles south of Bermuda, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, with winds extending about 90 miles from the storm’s center. It is expected to pass over or very close to Bermuda late Sunday or early Monday, drop 6 inches to 9 inches of rain and cause significant coastal flooding.

Hotel cancellations, early departures of planes, and closings of schools were reported across Bermuda as people were stranded in the flooding from the pounding rains of Hurricane Karl, which also soaked south-central portions of the country in Mexico, killing seven people.
