Many of us have at least one or two good memories of times spent at the beach.
Sun-kissed faces, and long, summer nights, salty air and sandcastles –what isn’t to love about the beach?
Fresh and invigorating, beach-inspired colors and nautical elements are an excellent design style that’s perfect for summer décor.
If you’re looking to bring the coast to your home, here are some ideas to get you started.
A Coastal Color Palette Sky blue, ocean blue, and navy –a range of blues in varying shades are a classic way to pay homage to the sky and sea. Moss or pastel greens can also evoke feelings of the seaside. Offset vibrant colors with a white or cream backdrop. Soft and light browns like driftwood or sand are also great neutral color choices that can help to covey a beachy theme.
Beach Décor
Beach décor can be fun and varied. Opt for cottage coastal décor, which combines rustic elements and casual details to create a homey, beach house feel; or jazz up a modern design style by taking a minimalist approach and incorporating a few key pieces that are reminiscent of the beach. An oil painting of the coast, a nautical-inspired sculpture, and textiles in a few choice colors –such as white, navy, or turquoise are simple ways to add seaside inspiration to a modern décor style.
Bring in the Textiles
Textiles can be a great ways to bring in some coastal flair. Look for textiles in colors and patterns that reflect the coast, and accent with some choice materials that would be at home on the coast or in a beach cottage –such as burlap pillows or jute rugs, and billowy, white organza curtains.
