Two British police officers broke a car window to rescue an abandoned baby. Sort of.
It turns out the rescued infant wasn’t quite human—it was just a very realistic-looking baby doll. The two officers were responding to an unrelated call at Russells Hall Hospital on September 14th.
Then they noticed the would-be baby, sitting alone in the front seat of a locked car - wrapped tightly in a blanket, with only the top of its discolored head visible.
After inquiries to locate the car’s owner failed, the officers felt they had no other choice, so they smashed in the car’s window. And, though ultimately mistaken, the officers are being supported by their superiors and thanked for their actions on social media.
The doll itself belonged to a 10-year-old girl. And as for the owner of the car, well, she’s none too pleased. The West Midlands Police have offered to pay for the damage.
