A Mississippi baby left doctors and her mother in awe after she was born with totally white hair.
Devina Smith was born with the snow-colored hair, and photos of the baby have gone viral over the years.
Her mother, 27-year-old Jessica Smith, uploaded the photos of the girl that have been viewed thousands of times on social media, with some people claiming they photos were photoshopped.
Smith and her doctors said that the photos, in fact, weren’t digitally altered. The girl’s condition is inherited and is caused by a lack of pigment in her eyes, hair, skin.
Many people claimed the child bore a resemblance to “Game of Thrones” character Daenerys, played by Emilia Clarke, due to her pure white hair.
The rare condition affects about five people in 100,000 in the United States and Europe, the Mail noted.
“I hadn’t seen a baby like that before--others were blond, but not white,” her mother said. “I think it makes her extra special.”
Smith said that a doctor informed her that “she had a lot of hair during delivery but it was a shock when I saw her for the first time, she had so much hair, it was crazy,” the Mail reported.
The mother added that “she’s so tiny, we haven’t taken her out much but when we took her for a hospital visit, a little girl said she looked like a baby doll”
Elaborating further, Smith said that after posting the pictures online, “they were being viewed thousands of times.”
“I couldn’t believe how much attention the photos was getting. People thought it had been photoshopped,” she continued. “My oldest is nine and he was so happy, and couldn’t get over her hair either.”
