Arnold Schwarzenegger, the longtime actor and one-time Republican governor of California, appeared to quote one of his film characters in telling people to “stop whining” about the Nov. 8 election results.
He was asked about president-elect Donald Trump while on the “Today” show on Thursday morning.
“Now he’s elected, and now it is very important that we all support the president, and that we all come together and we stop whining and it becomes one nation,” Schwarzenegger said in response to the host. “When someone is elected, you get 100 percent behind and you help them.”
The “stop whining” portion might be a reference to a line his character, John Kimble, said in “Kindergarten Cop.”
He also addressed concerns about Trump remaining on as executive producer of the new iteration of “Celebrity Apprentice,” which Schwarzenegger will now host.
“I think it’s perfectly fine that he has executive producer credit because he created the show with Mark Burnett together, so why should his credit go?” Schwarzenegger said. “He made it very clear that he has no interest in being involved. It is now my show, I’m the host, I’m the new boss and I’m going to run this show.”
During the campaign season, the former “Mr. Olympia” winner didn’t endorse Trump. Instead, he endorsed Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich. “I’m an environmentalist,” Schwarzenegger said on the show. “It’s one of the reasons I couldn’t go for Trump.”
“I wanted to make sure we’re going into a clean environment and a clean future because that’s what we did in California,” he continued.
