The Los Angeles Angels signed two of baseball’s biggest free agents Thursday, slugger Albert Pujols and starting pitcher C.J. Wilson, according to a report on MLB.com.
Pujols, considered by many the best hitter in the game will get a 10-year deal worth $254 million. The right-handed first baseman is coming off a season where he set career-lows with his average (.299), slugging percentage (.541), and RBIs (99) – numbers that would be career years for most.
Pujols’ move to the American League would put the soon-to-be 32-year old in position to become a designated hitter later in his career.
Wilson, who was a combined 31-15 with a 3.14 ERA the past two seasons with Texas, was thought to be the most sought after starting pitcher on the market. The 31-year old left-hander’s deal is believed to be for five years totaling $77.5 million.
