Angelina Jolie, actress and United Nations goodwill ambassador, called for urgent practical support for displaced Bosnians after a recent visit to the country, the U.N. said this week.

A conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina 15 years ago forced 2.2 million people to flee their homes in Bosnia. As of today, more than 110,000 are still displaced and another 7,000 live in temporary housing.

“The consequences of such a tragedy cannot be undone. However, we have a responsibility to do all in our power to reduce the pain by helping those who need assistance,” said Jolie. “In doing so, we contribute to overcoming divides and building a better future for all the people of the country.”

The actress discussed practical strategies to improve the situation with the country’s President Haris Silajdžic and presidency member Željko Komšic during her visit.

She also plans to shoot a movie this fall about a love story during the wartime between 1992 and 1995 in Sarajevo.
