Rapper Christ Bearer, real name Andrew Johnson, is in stable condition in the hospital after he tried to commit suicide.

Johnson cut off his penis on Wednesday morning before jumping off the balcony of his second floor apartment in North Hollywood.

He’s a member of Northstar, which was founded by Wu-Tang Clan member RZA. But RZA hasn’t worked with the group for several years.

Heathcliff Berru, a Wu-Tang Clan representative, sent a statement to Entertainment Weekly saying that he didn’t know who Northstar was before this incident.

“They were a little before my time working with this group and its outer circle. I am familiar with Christ Bearer’s name,” Berru said.

“Northstar were signed to Wu-Tang productions 10 years ago and were part of the West Coast Killa Bees—young guys that RZA tried to help to give an opportunity to take off the streets and make something of themselves. They had lyrical talent and freestyle and RZA strived to give them a shot. RZA has been doing this his whole career. He worked with them as he does with countless other artists. Artists and producers collaborate all the time.”

“What Christ Bearer did was unfathomable. I feel for his family at this time.”

TMZ reported that Johnson is in stable condition in the hospital, but that doctors couldn’t reattach his penis.

Several rappers on the scene of the incident claim that they weren’t on drugs and that Johnson may have mental issues.
