Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray of the Bachelorette actually broke up months ago, according to a new report.
Dorfman and Murray had been engaged since the end of the last season of the ABC show, but kept delaying forming any concrete wedding plans.
Their break up was revealed this week by Murray’s mother.
“Yes it’s true, Andi & Josh have chosen to break off their engagement,” she said via Facebook. “Although there was no one thing that precipitated their decision, they were thoughtful & wise in their decision and I’m happy they figured this out before getting married & having kids.”
Now In Touch Weekly says that Andi and Josh have been lieing basically the whole time, and actually broke up a long time ago.
“They were living a lie for a long time. When they got back home [to Atlanta] the day after the ‘Bachelor’ premiere, it was clear things were over. They just couldn’t pretend anymore,” one friend said.
The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are filmed ahead of time, meaning by the time the season premiered, Dorfman and Murray had been together for several months.
However, Bachelor franchise host Chris Harrison is among those claiming they didn’t know anything was off about the couple. Harrison interviewed them just a few days before they announced the split.
“I had no clue. The only thing was that I felt [they] were a little off, but... they seemed happy and played the part,” he told TV Guide.
“By no means did I know they were broken up and did that interview because honestly, having been through a crappy breakup, I would’ve protected it more and stayed away from wedding talk and I wouldn’t have put them on the spot. That had to be horribly uncomfortable and awkward knowing they were probably going to break up. I was surprised, considering everyone seemed good on Monday.
“I hope Andi will sit down with me whenever the time is right for her because I’m interested [to know what happened]; it felt sudden to call it quits. But I hope people give them a break.”
