Whole milk consumption has plummeted in the United States, falling by a massive 78 percent since 1970 alone. Interestingly, while the level of beverage consumption has remained the same, whole milk has been largely replaced by modern alternatives.
The nose-diving consumption levels have created a major problem for dairy farmers who have lobbied for years to re-invigorate the struggling industry. Unfortunately, their efforts have failed to reverse the downward trend.
