TAIPEI, Taiwan—Dong Yan-Ling, an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Natural Medicine, saw the performance by Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall on Feb. 21, after his friends told him about it. After seeing the performance, he gave a long sigh, saying firmly, “This performance belongs to Heaven; it is hardly seen on Earth.”

Mr. Dong nodded his head and praised Shen Yun for its ineffable and unprecedented digital backdrop. “It was a very, very magnificent performance. Its backdrop widens one’s horizons, especially the program Sand Monk Is Blessed. The only word that can describe such a fantastic stage setting is “superb.” Furthermore, since I have visited the place, I know how amazingly vivid the scenery presented on the backdrop is, such as the view of the Slender West Lake in Yangzhou.”

Mr. Dong has ample experience in traditional Chinese medical science. Apart from the work of “State Medical Dong Yanling Prescription,” he is a former member of the Committee on Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy, Department of Health, and a member of the board of examiners, Examination Yuan. At one time he was once sent to the Arab Emirates to cure illnesses for King Shelkh Zayed and other royal family members. He said that the magnificence of Shen Yun can grace the Chinese nation, saying, “We Chinese should present this remarkable work to broaden foreigners’ horizons!”

As a visiting professor of Chinese medicine practitioners reeducation program at the Chinese Culture University, Mr. Dong has profound knowledge of Chinese and literature. He also expressed that Shen Yun demonstrated the 5,000 years of the authentic Chinese civilization and core values with brief dances adapted from history and legends. Its exhilarating performance truly captivated the audience.

He further stated that the program Sand Monk Is Blessed let the audience members comprehend the wisdom implied. As for the dance When Shaolin Monks Protected The Emperor, it shed light on sensibilities of the Chinese nation. Whoever has read Chinese historical literature and legends would know that Shen Yun fully depicts the spirit of Chinese classics.”

At the end of the interview, Mr. Dong Yanling praised Shen Yun, saying, “Such a magnificent program ought to be introduced to the entire world!” He quoted Du Fu’s poem to praise Shen Yun as the Emperor Ming of Tang did by saying, “This performance belongs to the Heaven; it is hardly seen on Earth!”
