Perennial American Le Mans Series competitors Alex Job Racing will be back for the 2012 season, but not in their GTC Porsche; AJR has teamed up with Lotus and will campaign a GTE Evora starting with the season’s second race, the Long Beach Grand Prix.
“I am excited to announce the racing partnership between Lotus and Alex Job Racing in North America,” Job said on the team website.
“Our efforts and ability to attract Lotus is a testament to the hard work that AJR has put in over the past several years. This partnership, along with our key sponsors William Rast, Battery Tender, and Yokohama represent a new chapter for our seasoned organization and for the ALMS.”
AJR’s Bill Sweedler will team up with IndyCar driver Townsend Bell behind the wheel of the new Lotus, which will be powered by a 470-bhp, 4-liter Toyota V6.
“We look forward to working together and developing a top-tier team over the coming years,” said Lotus CEO Dany Behar. “Alex Job has one of the best records in sports-car racing.”
AJR’s record is indeed impressive: three ALMS GT championships, two class wins at Le Mans and seven at Sebring, and a record 22 ALMS poles.
