When he won a Best Picture Oscar award for “Argo” on Sunday night, Ben Affleck was perhaps the most famous beaded man in Hollywood.

Not anymore.

At an after party celebrating his win, Affleck shaved his face with the help of his wife, Jennifer Garner, along with George Clooney and other friends at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood, reported celebrity news website TMZ.

The website said that a “bunch of people” took turns shaving Affleck’s face. E! Online reported that Affleck, 40, “did it to mark the end of a chapter,” said an unnamed source. “It had that ceremonial quality to it.”

When he won the award, Affleck gave an emotional speech, thanking his wife and numerous other people who supported him while making “Argo”—a film about a U.S. hostage rescue attempt during the Iran revolution of 1979.

He said, “You have to work harder than you think you possibly can. It doesn’t matter how you get knocked down in life because that’s going to happen. All that matters is you have to get up.”
