HONG KONG—At the press conference today, August 31, 2015 three additional top flight participants were announced for the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2015, US$250,000 WTA International tournament: two time Grand Slam Champion, Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, Eugine Bouchard of Canada and Garbine Muguruza the 21 years old, fast rising Spanish star now world ranked No.9, have been added to the entry list.
These three will join the top players previously announced: seven times Grand Slam winner and former World No.1, Venus Williams (USA); defending Champion, Sabine Lisicky (Germany); and Caroline Garcia and Alize Cornet (France) – all are closely matched in the current WTA world rankings.
Bouchard who pulled out just before the start of the tournament last year after reaching the finals at Wimbledon and reaching the 4th round in the 2014 US Open, although dropping in the rankings has great crowd appeal. Muguruza the 21 years old Spanish player, finalist at Wimbledon this year, has been climbing the rankings rapidly and at No.9 looks like being the highest ranked player in this year’s tournament, and a person to watch, but all of these players can turn in top performances.
The tournament will take place at The Hong Kong Tennis Stadium, Victoria Park 10-18 October 2015.
