Actor Will Smith is “stunned” over the death of friend Prince—just having spoken to the music legend the night before his passing.
“I am stunned and heartbroken. I just spoke with him last night. Today, Jada & I mourn with all of you the loss of a beautiful poet, a true inspiration, and one of the most magnificent artists to ever grace this earth,” wrote Smith on his Facebook page. He accompanied the text with a photo of Prince from the 1984 film, “Purple Rain.”
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson, passed away at age 57 on April 21. The iconic singer was found in his Minneapolis home in which medics were dispatched to find a “male down, not breathing."
Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith also paid homage to the man who showed her the ropes of the industry.
“Prince was one of the first artists to put me on game in regard to the industry. He was not only a genius artist, he was kind, funny, beautifully eccentric, curious, imaginative, magical, spiritual, rebellious and extremely intelligent,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “He showed me early the power of living one’s life by one’s own rules and no one else’s.”
She continued on to write: “There are really no words to express what we have all lost today. To quote my friend Paress, ‘Music has lost its heart beat.’ Rest in peace Beauty…”
Celebrities and fans were shocked by Prince’s passing, expressing grief on social media.
