All four members of the Swedish group, ABBA performed in public for the first time in 30 years in Stockholm on June 5.
According to The Expressen, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad made a surprise appearance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ulvaeus and Andersson’s friendship at the Berns Salonger Hotel in downtown Stockholm.
The last time ABBA performed together was in 1986.
“It was absolutely amazing. A lot of emotions. We’ve made this journey throughout our history. Benny and Björn in Particular. Its been very nostalgic,” said Anni-Frid Lyngstad of the night’s event.
The party was hosted by famous Swedish musician Claes af Geijerstam. A video montage of the pair’s friendship was displayed for guests, including the time they won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest for the song “Waterloo.”
The foursome performed “Me and I” from their 1980 album “Super Trouper.”
Fellow entertainment industry peers Peter Jöback, Lasse Berghagen, Sheeba, Pernilla Wahlgren, Lena Philipsson, Kristina Calm, Jerry Williams, Niklas Strömstedt, Helen Sjöholm, and Tommy Körberg participated in the nights festivities.
“A magical night. I never could have dreamed it would’ve become such a party. I feel like I can die happy having experienced a night like this,” said actress Marie Göranzon.
This is the first time in months the group has been photographed together. In January of this year, the group were all in one place for the premiere of Bjorn Ulvaeus show “Mamma Mia! The party” at Tyrol in Stockholm.
“I am very happy that everyone could come. We are very good friends, said Bjorn Ulvaeus about the occasion.
When asked about a possible reunion, Benny Andersson expressed uncertainty.
“No I do not think so. But what do I know, so I can not answer. Because we stopped for so many years ago,” he said when asked if a reunion is possible. Ulvaeus was more certain in his response.
“I say a definite no. It is good as it is, that people remember us as we were, that energetic pop group,” he said.
