A 93-year-old Indian entrepreneur earned a meeting with Prince William and Kate Middleton after sweeping the Internet with his invitation to the royal couple.
Boman Kohinoor, 93, owns the Britannia & Company restaurant. He says he’s the biggest fan in the country of the royal family.
Kohinoor, who opened his famous Parsi cafe in Mumbai in 1923, told AFP: "I would be very happy and I would be honored if they would visit me.
“I would treat them to the best of my signature dishes like berry pulao and sali boti mutton, lamb, and fish and all that,” he added.
A two-minute video of Kohinoor boasting about his cafe and inviting the royal couple there went viral, which apparently helped Kohinoor secure an audience with the royals at the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai.
“They were very kind and asked me about my restaurant and my favourite dishes there,” Kohinoor told Condé Nast Traveller.
“I told them about the berry pulao and how it’s made using my late wife’s recipe. They asked me if I could cook. I said no, but I serve my customers well. I told them: give my love to the Queen, and to [your] children Prince George and Princess Charlotte, too. I wish I had more time to speak, but I’m thankful for this opportunity.”
