EASTPOINTE, Mich.—A 91-year-old man has shot and wounded another man who was apparently trying to rob him outside a Detroit-area store.
Eastpointe police say the apparent attacker was behaving in an erratic manner when he approached the 91-year-old man Monday morning.
Sgt. Martin Campbell tells The Detroit News that the elderly man repeatedly warned his wannabe attacker that he had a concealed pistol license “and even had the gun pointed at him ... but the suspect kept coming and pointed an unknown object at the victim.”
The second man was shot in the neck. He has been hospitalized and is in police custody.
Campbell says the shooting is being investigated as self-defense during an attempted armed robbery.
