Over four thousand professional and graduate job vacancies will be showcased at this year’s Career Zoo at the Convention Centre, Dublin on September 22nd.
According to Career Zoo director Brian Ó hOisín, Career Zoo is specific to opportunities in Ireland with over 100 Irish and international organisations offering almost 4,000 jobs this year.
Courses and up-skilling opportunities will also feature at the one-day event, as many of Dublin’s third level institutions will be attending.
Mr Ó hOisín says that there is something for a variety of job-seekers: “Experts will also offer advice on starting your own business. Other activities include a ‘Tech Box’ where attendees can learn more about Ireland’s fastest-growing sector—IT, career workshops, and a career clinic where job seekers can go for advice and help.”
The event is free to enter, and Mr Ó hOisín advises those who are interested in attending to check out the event at their website, www.careerzoo.ie, and do a bit of reading up on the companies that will be showcasing jobs this year.
Many of the jobs on offer are IT-related; however there are also pharmaceutical positions, engineering opportunities, as well as advice on how to change over into IT from other sectors.
Career Zoo will feature exhibitors actively hiring such as Microsoft and Amazon, who are sponsoring the event, Twitter, EMC Ireland, Hays Recruitment and Telefonica Ireland, as well as AOL, Accenture, Deloitte, Ericsson, and Johnson & Johnson.
Enterprise Ireland is also sponsoring the event and will be promoting 1,500 opportunities in Irish software-sector firms.
Speaking about the upcoming Career Zoo, Paul Rellis, Managing Director of Microsoft Ireland, said: “Microsoft is delighted to be sponsoring Career Zoo. We’re looking forward to showcasing the career potential that the technology sector has to offer people. Microsoft has a long tradition of helping people to acquire the skills that they need to operate in the working world. Now more than ever we have to support the efforts of the Government in getting people across this country back to work. Career Zoo is an initiative which helps to do this – by bringing a variety of sectors under one roof and making experts and prospective employers available to attendees, it showcases the career options that are available in this country.
“On the day Microsoft will be running an Apps Factory to demonstrate the skills required in this area, but also to highlight the business potential there is in App development. In addition Microsoft employees will be demonstrating the innovative work that they do in Ireland. For the past three years Microsoft has been named Best Place to Work. We want to show people how true that is and encourage them to pursue a career path with us. We’re looking forward to the event and I hope anyone out there considering their next steps takes the time to come along and speak to Microsoft employees as well as some of the many exhibitors that will be there on the day.”
