Kenya Red Cross reported Monday that 39 people are still missing following the terrorist attack on the Westgate mall in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Red Cross is actively helping families connect with their loved ones and following up with families who have reported missing persons to maintain an up-to-date record. Psychosocial support has been provided for at least 1,241 people.

On Sunday, Kenyan Interior Minister  Joseph Ole Lenku updated the press and the public, saying “There are no formal reports of missing persons with the police."

“Curious,” tweeted freelance journalist in East Africa, Hannah McNeish. She questioned whether it was an indication of the people’s lacking faith in local police. Lenku appealed to humanitarian organizations with missing persons lists to communicate with police.
