In September 2018, a good Samaritan who happened to be a nurse stopped to help injured victims at the site of a terrible crash involving several motorcycles. A year later, the woman’s young daughter had an unexpected and much-welcomed encounter with a large number of bikers who were involved in the accident and who wanted to show their gratitude in the most heartfelt way.
After the event, Sturch reached out to the group over Facebook to check on the status of the people she helped treat. Luckily, all the injured bikers had survived, and an unlikely friendship developed over the social media platform. “I started getting a lot of messages from bikers thanking me for being there that day,” she told CNN.
It was on Sept. 7, 2019, about a year after the original event, when the mother posted a photo of Bryanne outside her home, having set up her very own lemonade stand. Unfortunately, the day had been ruined by rain.
Yet, a member of the biker group saw the picture and said they would be in the area the following week and asked for the stand to be reopened then.
“I had no idea how many there would be, and they were so generous,” Sturch said. “She was charging $1, and I bet every one of them gave a $5 or $10 or $20. [Bryanne] was as happy as she could be.”
They also took a memorable group photo together.
According to Sturch, Bryanne “was so happy and surprised, and afterward, she told me she thought there were nice people in the world.”
Among the bikers who visited the stand was Mary Henry, who had also been injured during the accident. “Seeing Daryn and her family, it turned out to be a great day,” Henry shared. “It was meant to be that she was there to help that day.”
This story shows how one act of kindness and selflessness can bring very unlikely people together.
“I think it’s a perfect example of how just because you don’t look the same way or dress the same way or have the same hobbies or interests doesn’t mean we don’t have the same core values inside us,” Sturch stated. “We shouldn’t make assumptions about people, we should just love each other.”
