You have to be a little different to enjoy the Mini: different, in a unique and adventuresome way. This may not be a car made for everyone, but certainly a vehicle that aims to please once purchased. My Thunder Metallic Gray Countryman was designed for a sporty appeal.

The 1.5-liter TwinPower turbo 3-cylinder engine produces 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft torque by itself. This is supplemented by an eDrive electric motor for a combined 221 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. Power is carried to all four wheels through the ALL4 AWD system for better traction and control. MacPherson Strut suspension, and disc brakes with ABS at all four corners round up the core performance design.

Together with a 6-speed automatic transmission the powertrain consumes 27 mpg when running just the gasoline engine, but that jumps to 65 mpg with both electric and gasoline drives. The battery pack consists of the high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack.

Standard on S and Cooper Works models, Driving Modes offers Sport, Green, and Mid settings to tailor this sporty vehicle’s performance to the driving mood.

Six-way manual adjustable deluxe sport seats, multi-functional leather-wrapped sport steering wheel, along with split folding seat back add to the practicality and aesthetic appeal of the inside. Ambient lighting further improves the overall design of the interior.

Although Mini is relatively small of stature, you will take note of the roominess of the cab. Important functions like door locks and windows control are still easily reachable. The 6.5-inch media display is close to hand. However, bolder and larger lettering would make it easier to read and understand. as

Safety works hand-in-hand with convenience and usability. Eight airbags, including side curtains and front knee airbags, serves as the last line of defense. Automatic headlights complement rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear camera and rear park distance control sensors.

The Mini Countryman gives you a free-spirited driving experience, but still remains perfect for busy city traffic with its ease of parking and quick acceleration for highway merging. But give it a scenic coastal highway or a hill-climb through an Appalachian forest, and it immediately springs up to full vigor and gusto. Yep, might want to give Mini a try!

Moving up to the Signature model with an additional $2,500 will get you a touchscreen, heated seats, keyless entry, driving mode select, dual-zone climate control, and Forward Collision Warning with Emergency Braking. Finally, the $44,400 Iconic model adds a navigation system, Apple Carplay support, premium leather upholstery, plus LED head lights and tail lights.
