2017 Mega Ice Hockey 5’s Update

HONG KONG—The 2017 Mega Ice Hockey 5’s youth tournament took place over the last week, starting on April 23 and culminating in the youth finals on Saturday April 29.

The adult Hockey 5’s starts at 6pm on May 1 and continues through to the finals on Saturday May 6, with 64 matches spread across 4 divisions Women, Asian (A, B and C) International and the top division, International Elite. There are just 3 teams in the International Elite: Hong Kong Tigers, Pandoo Nations and CCCP Totachi. Eight teams make up the International division, 13 are in the Asian group (split into 2 sub divisions) and 4 teams compete in the women’s division.

The youth tournament comprised 134 matches by 52 teams across 5 age categories: Atoms, Mini Squirts, Squirts, Pee Wees and Bantams including subdivisions within age categories. The winners are shown below together with photos from the event.

The All Stars, Beijing Magic and Beijing Little Wolf Cyclone claimed Atom C、Atom B and Atom A top prizes respectively.

In the Mini Squirt A Final, Beijing Galaxy Whalers beat Beijing Little Wolves 5-2. Beijing Little Wolf Wind were victorious in the Mini Squirt B Final against Canstar Rangers winning 3-2.

Hong Kong Selects Blue overcame Shanghai Warriors 5-1 in the Squirt A final.  International North Stars won the Squirt B final beating Hong Kong Selects White 4-0.

In the Bantam A final, Hong Kong Selects Blue held off the Buccaneers to win 2-0.  Hong Kong Ice Hockey Association Z claimed the Bantam B top prize after beating Baird Dbees 3-1.

In the Pee Wee A Final, International North Stars A recorded a 3-2 victory against Hong Kong Selects Blue while Singapore Ice Dragons won against Hong Kong Selects White (2-1) in the Pee Wee B final.
