Sitting in the driver’s seat of the 2017 Infiniti QX60, you have easy command and control of this family-friendly vehicle. It is spacious; capable of going swiftly with 295 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque; wrapped in a sleek, comfortable style; and technologically charged.
The family-friendliness aspect is certainly pronounced with the optional ($2,150) Theatre Package. It features dual 8-inch monitors and two wireless headphones for untethered multimedia enjoyment, plus rear headphone jacks with volume control. It also adds a 120V power outlet and an HDMI input port for expanded source material options.
The Infiniti QX60 has an electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with manual shift-mode gear-ratio selection. Infiniti Drive Mode Selector offers the driver Standard, Sport, Snow, and Eco modes with different throttle responses and transmission mapping.
The QX60 employs a lightweight construction that reduces unsprung weight and also helps to contribute to quicker turn-ins and overall steering performance.
The EPA estimated fuel economy is 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, for 22 mpg combined. That works out to about 100 miles on 4.5 gallons.
When entering the vehicle, Infiniti Intelligent Key lets you unlock the doors and liftgate and even start the engine without taking your key out of your pocket. This is valuable when you may have parked in an unfriendly or poorly lit area, or when the weather is inclement. Now you can get inside quickly, as your heated 8-way power seat slides back into position.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is power tilt and telescopic adjustable. The available memory feature links seat, steering wheel, and outside mirror settings to individual Intelligent Keys. An even more elaborate memory system stores audio, tri-zone automatic climate control, and navigation settings on the keys; adjusting automatically to your individual needs.
Inside, you have three rows of well-appointed leather seats that can accommodate up to eight occupants. The front and middle seats feature unique patterns that run on the lower backs and bottoms.
The multi-mode second-row seats make for easy third-row entry and exit. The 60/40-split folding and sliding second-row seating and the 50/50-split folding and reclining third-row seating add flexibility to easy in-and-out access and inside comfort. There are also rear-seat heater ducts under the first- and second-row seats.
A power-sliding tinted glass moonroof with one-touch open/close and tilt, plus a sliding sunshade, keeps all of life’s “good stuff” inside but allows the outside “good stuff” to come in as well.
HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED fog lights help you to see the road ahead clearly. The QX60 comes standard with 18-inch triple five-spoke alloy wheels, which are upgraded to large 20-inch wheels when you choose the Deluxe Touring Package. These large wheels enhance the bold and athletic stance of this large vehicle.
The Infiniti InTouch with Navigation infotainment system brings the world into your car. This system is centered around an 8-inch color touchscreen and encompasses smartphone connectivity, in-dash single CD player, HD Radio, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and SiriusXM Travel Link. The standard system supports Voice Recognition for commanding audio, Bluetooth hands-free, and vehicle information functions. This feature adds a big convenience by allowing you to search music by voice.
Sound is reproduced through a six-speaker system, which can be upgraded to the Bose 13-speaker Premium Audio System when you add the $1,800 Premium Package, or the Bose 15-speaker Cabin Surround System with the $7,300 Deluxe Touring Package.
There are numerous little things that make the QX60 more warm and friendly. Infiniti Welcome Lighting greets you as you approach the vehicle with the Intelligent Key. First, a light in the underside of the driver’s side mirror illuminates the ground. Then, the inside lights up as people enter and get settled. At the same time, Fine Vision electroluminescent gauges brightly display basic essential information quickly and clearly.
On the safety front, the QX60 is standard-equipped with dual-stage front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags, plus Zone Body construction to help absorb the impact in the unfortunate event of a collision.
To prevent such an event from happening, there is the usual suite of vehicle control assists including Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamic Control, and Brake Assist.
The Infiniti QX60 is covered by a 4-year/60,000-mile Basic Coverage Limited Warranty, a 6-year/70,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty, and a 7-year/unlimited mileage Corrosion Perforation Limited Warranty.
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price starts at $43,100 for the base FWD model.
