The 2017 Infiniti QX30 is available in six models, with the Premium AWD positioned just below the Sport model. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $37,700, but some models start at less than $30,000.

The luxury compact SUV features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that fetches 208 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and the whole vehicle rides on independent front strut and multi-link rear suspensions.

The engine features an automatic idle stop/start system, which contributes to improved fuel economy for city driving. The fuel economy rating determined by the EPA is 25 combined mpg when averaged with 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

The QX30 is an all-new, premium, active crossover with bold styling and a higher ride than most competitors. The interior is dressed in wood grain, accompanied by stitched Nappa leather-appointed seating with eight-way power adjustment for the front. The Infiniti’s passengers are positioned to have a drive of luxury.

QX30 has a unique combination of active and passive safety features that enhance the drive.

Dual-zone automatic air conditioning with rear-seat vents on the console ensures everyone is comfortable, and the 60/40- folding rear seats provide flexibility.

LED signature daytime running lights, auto on/off headlamps, and LED front fog lamps keep everything ahead in clear sight, while power folding outside mirrors and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror keep you aware of the surroundings. Dual puddle lamps light the ground to greet your approach.

The Infiniti QX30 has deep, sculpted lines that run dramatically down the side. The wheel arches and side sills punctuate the handsome design as satin silver bumper inserts present a “go anywhere” attitude.

You sit high above traffic, having a greater view of what is around you. From this vantage point, you are able to maneuver around rough traffic conditions with a better grasp of your surroundings.

The 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in all-season, run-flat tires add to the looks and the ride.

All kinds of technology are featured inside the QX30. Proudly displaying front and center is the Infiniti InTouch infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen displaying vehicle information and Infiniti InTouch apps. This is complemented by a Bose 10-speaker (include subwoofer) premium audio system. Media sources include AM/FM radio, SiriusXM, CD, and two USB ports. The USB ports greatly enhance your convenience when it comes to source material.

The Bluetooth hands-free phone system with audio streaming and voice recognition minimizes distraction when driving.

Think about the driving experience you want, then use the Drive Mode Selector to command the vehicle to suit your needs. Eco mode helps increase fuel economy, Manual mode allows you to get more involved with the paddle shifters to upshift or downshift, and Sport mode gives you a more active throttle response for better acceleration.

One of the most interesting and surprising features offered by the QX30 is the Intelligent Park Assist system. I had seen a similar feature demonstrated once before by a Ford F-150.

The Infiniti system uses 12 sensors to size up the parking space. If it is appropriate in width and depth, the driver pushes a button and the car will parallel park itself or back into the space. The driver does still need to shift, accelerate, and brake.

The first few times I used the technology, it was hard for me to keep my hands off the steering wheel. But after a while, I developed a sense of trust and relaxed as I enjoyed the machine-calculated precision of the parking system.

The QX30 has a unique combination of active and passive safety features that enhance the drive. They also make you comfortable in the knowledge that you and your passengers are well protected.

Everyone is protected by a whole assortment of airbags, including front-seat-mounted side-impact airbags, roof-mounted side-impact airbags, and front-passenger knee airbags. A tire pressure monitor and vehicle immobilization system are standard.

Infiniti offers a Technology Package for $2,200 extra, which is loaded with wizard-like features such as Intelligent Park Assist, Around View Monitor, and Forward Emergency Braking. It also adds several common active safety features such as Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Cruise Control.

An interior package (Cafe Teak Theme Package, $1,750) features a large brown leather/leatherette console and dove trim, as well as genuine wood trim on the center stack and door handles.
