An open letter issued Sept. 14 and signed by a group of more than 170 environmentalists urged like-minded voters to vote for Democratic Party candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden in November’s presidential election—and not the Green Party candidate, Howie Hawkins, or any other third-party candidate. “Are environmentalists too pure to beat Donald Trump?” the letter asks.

“Angry right-wing voters and liberal absentees put Trump in the White House in 2016,” according to the group. “In 2020 the same unholy team could keep him there.”
