Wendie Malick, turned 60 yesterday, Dec. 13, and says her latest show, Hot in Cleveland is all about celebrating every stage of womanhood.
Malick stars as Victoria, one of three middle-aged women living together in Los Angeles, in the TV Land sitcom, which will air its second season early in the New Year.
Her co-stars threw a surprise party for her on-set with cake and champagne. Golden girl Betty White, who plays Elke, praised the birthday girl.
“She’s not only funny, not only beautiful, but she’s such a pro,” White said, according to OnTheRedCarpet.com. “It’s a pleasure and a privilege to work with her.”
Malick told People magazine that White is an inspiration for all women. “Aging is not scary, and Betty [White] is the greatest example,” she said.
“Women don’t have an expiration date,” Malick said, according to People. She added that she was unsure how she would deal with turning 60, but now feels “I’m just hitting my stride.”
“In this town, it used to be that you sort of hid behind a rock and never shared your age with anyone,” Malick told OnTheRedCarpet.com. “This show is, I think, so much about celebrating women in every stage in their lives, and I am in such excellent company to do that.”
