Since the outbreak of the Israel–Hamas war, the Western world has been divided, even to the point of extreme opposition, over how to resolve the crisis in the Middle East. This division stems from the proliferation of extreme leftist thinking in Western societies as well as the shadowy manipulation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Clash Between Left and Right Camps

In the sweeping pro-Palestinian protests across the United States, an interesting and dramatic scene unfolded: the emergence of a lone hero, Mosab Hassan Yousef, famously known as the “Son of Hamas.”

Born in 1978 in Ramallah, Mr. Mosab is the eldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a co-founder of the terrorist organization Hamas. Initially involved in Hamas, Mr. Mosab’s views changed during his imprisonment in an Israeli jail when he witnessed brutalities carried out by Hamas, leading him to become an informant for the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security service. He converted to Christianity in 2004 and publicly renounced Hamas in 2008, which resulted in estrangement from his family. Mr. Mosab applied for political asylum in the United States in 2007, and after an initial denial, he was granted asylum in 2010 following testimony from his former Shin Bet handler.

He went public in early 2010 when he published his memoir, “Son of Hamas.”

This time, amid the widespread pro-Hamas sentiment, Mr. Mosab stood up and spoke of Hamas’s terror crimes to the public on television and online platforms. In numerous debates with pro-Hamas activists, Mr. Mosab consistently emerged victorious, leaving his opponents speechless. Many of the most impassioned and vocal radicals in public, when confronted by Mr. Mosab, are found to be ignorant of Israeli–Palestinian history and naïve in their views of the Hamas terrorist organization.

CCP’s Shadow

A major reason why U.S. police finally intervened to clear the encampment sites occupied by protesters on college campuses is the shift in the protest movement from support for Palestinians to support for Hamas. Support for Palestinians, from a relatively tolerant perspective, can be interpreted as a call for peace, while support for Hamas is seen as support for anti-Semitic genocide and a terrorist organization. Consequently, the U.S. government cannot remain passive.

A critical question arises: How did the shift occur from support for Palestinians to support for Hamas, and from a call for peace to support for terrorism? Who are the driving forces behind this shift?

The Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI), a New Jersey-based organization that specializes in researching false rumors and disinformation on the internet, released a report in May indicating that a group linked to the CCP has played a major role in the widespread pro-Palestinian protests in the United States.

The report, titled “Contagious Disruption: How CCP Influence and Radical Ideologies Threaten Critical Infrastructure and Campuses Across the United States,” alleged that the CCP is remotely infiltrating U.S. society through pro-communist organizations in the West to achieve its insidious intent of disrupting American society.

The organization “Shut It Down for Palestine” (SID4P) has been identified as a major organizer behind the pro-Palestinian protests across the United States. This group has been involved in coordinating numerous demonstrations, including those on college campuses and protests that have disrupted various public spaces and events.

NCRI found out that the official SID4P Convenors include seven groups: The People’s Forum, ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), International People’s Assembly, Al-Awda NY, National Students for Justice in Palestine, Palestinian Youth Movement, and Palestinian American Community Center NJ.

According to the Free Beacon, The People’s Forum’s operations are largely made possible by a $12 million donation from the charitable arm of Goldman Sachs. The source of this money is likely to be Neville Roy Singham, a communist who has “long admired Maoism.” His wife, Jodie Evans, is the leader of the activist group Code Pink, a pro-CCP group that has praised China as “a defender of the oppressed and a model for economic growth without slavery or war.”

In a December 2021 post on Twitter, The People’s Forum denied that its funding came from “dark money,” saying, “A few years ago we met Roy Singham, a Marxist comrade who sold his company & donated most of his wealth to non-profits that focus on political education, culture & internationalism.”

In March 2021, Chinese state media reported on a strategic partnership between the School of Communication at the East China Normal University and the Shanghai-based Maku Group, a culture and communication company. The Maku Group website showed young people gathering in Mr. Singham’s office, with a photo of CCP leader Xi Jinping in the background and a red banner that reads “Follow the Party Forever.”

Mr. Singham also founded a newsletter called Dongsheng News, which promotes pro-communist rhetoric in foreign languages.

In August 2023, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice requesting an investigation into U.S. left-wing activist groups linked to an international Chinese Communist Party funding network.

“I write to express my concern over certain far-left organizations that are reportedly tied to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and operating with impunity in the United States,” he wrote. “It appears that organizations tied to Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. citizen, have been receiving direction from the CCP.”

The NCRI report also revealed that since November 2023, SID4P has organized and participated in almost weekly direct action activities that have repeatedly disrupted public order and critical infrastructure, resulting in numerous arrests for disorderly conduct.

The timeline of events suggests that these protests have escalated over time:

Nov. 9, 2023: traffic was shut down in Midtown Manhattan by pro-Palestinian protesters; Nov. 9, 2023: pro-Palestinian activists carrying banners and chanting slogans shut down Blackrock HQ in Manhattan; Nov.17, 2023: protesters stormed the news Corps Fox HQ; Nov. 24, 2023: pro-Palestinian activists stormed outside Macy’s in New York City; Dec. 8, 2023: pro-Palestinian protesters mobilized to shut down Wall Street; Dec. 26, 2023: pro-Palestinian protesters blocked roads to JFK and LAX airports; Jan. 8, 2024: protesters blocked traffic on Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Holland Tunnel; March 2, 2024: Global day of direct action for Rafah; March 28, 2024: disruption of Democratic Party fundraising event in New York City; March 30, 2024: Disruptions and arrests Nationwide on Land Day; April 15, 2024: general strike organized by SID4P on Global Day of Direct Action; April 17, 2024: SID4P joined the off-campus rally adjacent to the Columbia University Gaza Solidarity Encampment.

A Big Help for the CCP

For more than a decade, the CCP’s official and semi-official think tanks have been discussing the best time to reunify Taiwan by force. In their public articles, they have stated that the time is ripe for the CCP to take over Taiwan when military conflicts in three regions of the world are occurring simultaneously. The three areas of conflict are Russia’s conflict with NATO, Israel’s conflict with Muslim countries in the Middle East, and North Korea’s conflict with South Korea in Northeast Asia.

Since the Hamas terrorist attack in October 2023, various anti-Israel and pro-CCP forces have emerged almost simultaneously in the West, disrupting the normal functioning of Western societies. Are all these activities independently initiated, or are they globally coordinated actions? What is the purpose?

The people of the world should realize that today’s international community has reached a point at which enormous efforts are required to defend peace and protect freedom.
