Australian mining billionaire Gina Rinehart has suggested Queensland could host future SpaceX rocket launches, days after her company announced a $1.4 billion investment in the aerospace firm.

Speaking in Townsville, Rinehart said space industry development could create jobs and attract investment to northern Australia.
